Press Release:

Networks In Motion Releases Map MessengerTM 2.0 for Mobile Resource Management and Tracking

Irvine, CA, May 1, 2003

Networks in Motion, Inc. (NIM) today released Map MessengerTM 2.0, a comprehensive desktop application for enterprises challenged with the task of managing a mobile workforce. The business of Mobile Resource Management (MRM) encompasses Routed Delivery, Trucking, Field Services, On Demand Pick-up and Delivery, Mobile Data Collection, Real Estate, Government, Professional Services and all industries that depend on efficient Mobile Sales Personnel. With its powerful Planning, Tracking, and Reporting tools, Map Messenger is the most extensive MRM solution available.

The new Map Messenger edition features an intuitive Location CalendarTM for retrieving location history “breadcrumbs” and displaying the information in a calendar timeline. The overview calendar gives a bird’s eye view of the remote activity for the month, and the detailed timeline breaks down the activity into Work Flow Status, Stopped vs Moving, and Exception Indicators (speed, low battery). This unique approach puts the most relevant location history at the manager’s fingertips without overwhelming him with detailed history points all at once. The Location Calendar, featuring Networks In Motion's patent-pending technology, is also equipped with zoom and pan features to quickly locate a time window of historic location data, which then immediately becomes visible on the Map!

“Map Messenger 2.0 brings Mobile Tracking out of the Dark Ages of slow, click-and-wait, Internetbased solutions” said Michael Sheha, President of NIM. “With today’s increasing proliferation of portable wireless tracking devices, the software for managing and analyzing the location data becomes the centerpiece of a useable MRM solution. Map Messenger 2.0 has set the bar for power and performance in a MRM application all at a very competitive price.”

Map Messenger 2.0 works in conjunction with NIM’s AtlasTrackTM mobile J2ME application which runs on wireless GPS handsets. Currently supported handsets include Nextel’s i88s and i58sr. GPS locations are wirelessly sent from AtlasTrack to Map Messenger in real time. The built-in Instant Messaging service allows Map Messenger and AtlasTrack users to message each other, and includes Send and Read confirmations. All communications are secured by SSL encryption.

Best of Class Planning, Monitoring and Analysis Tools

While most web-based fleet monitoring products exclude mapping and planning capabilities, Map Messenger 2.0 seamlessly integrates monitoring with best of class planning tools. This integration allows fleet managers and mobile professionals to plan all of their travel before sending drivers out into the field. Once they are out in the field, the monitoring tools give the office manager instant insight into the status of the planned trip. This real-time status provides a “Mobile Time Card” view that shows the workflow of an employee throughout the day as well as their location. Analysis of the day now becomes easy, since the trip was both planned and tracked all within Map Messenger 2.0.

Some of the extensive Planning features within Map Messenger 2.0 include: extensive United States map coverage with multiple map views and an overview map, blazing fast pan and zoom to navigate around the map, a multi-point route planner, accurate turn by turn directions, sophisticated searching based upon address, zip code, area code or name of place, find nearby places or members and find nearest member to a particular address. Companies can import their customer database or contacts for use in Planning and Reporting.

Tools for Monitoring an employee utilize the same powerful mapping capabilities and can dynamically display the employee as they move across the map. Pinpointing an entire fleet on the map is a simple click of the mouse, and Map Messenger 2.0 can even report if a member is driving too fast. Because Map Messenger 2.0 stays resident even when it is not open on the desktop, communication and reporting from the field occurs in the background. In this way, the fleet or office manager can work in other applications, and still receive instant messages or status changes from mobile workers.

Map Messenger 2.0 has several detailed Reports including Stop Report, which lists when and where a member has either stopped briefly, parked for over 30 minutes, or sat stationary for a long period of time. The Activity Report summarizes the miles traveled and the amount of time spent moving or stopped. New reports continue to be added through automatic program updates over the web.

Pricing, Availability and Requirements

Map Messenger 2.0 is available today for $495.95 plus applicable tax. The software may be purchased through the web site at: www.NetworksInMotion.com, or through one of the company’s many resellers. The price includes one Administrator log-in account. Additional account activations are $99 plus applicable tax.

Map Messenger 2.0 works in conjunction with Networks In Motion’s AtlasTrack mobile application and Nextel® GPS enabled phones, which are sold separately. AtlasTrack users require a data plan from Nextel which could vary in size based on the extent of tracking usage and the type of tracking. Map Messenger 2.0 allows for several different tracking modes based upon customer needs and budget.

System Requirements for Map Messenger 2.0 include: PC with Intel® Pentium® II 266MHz or higher processor, Windows® XP, 2000, 98, ME or NT, and an Internet connection.
